Mandeans from Khuzestan
Our research of the early-Christian music led us to the Khuzestan region, South of Iran, inhabited by Mandaeans – the only gnostic group from the basin of the Jordan River living in our time. They emigrated to the Euphrates and the Tiger at the turn of the 1st and 2nd century CE. To this day, Mandaeans use the language belonging to the family of East Aramaic dialects, and, as ancient alchemists did, they make a living by trading gold and silver.
